BKP Brings Kids from Rumah Charis for Uniform Shopping Spree.
Close to 30 kids from Rumah Charis got their ‘Back-to-School’ shopping done recently, with the help from Bukit Kiara Properties Sdn Bhd (BKP), a niche property development company in Kuala Lumpur.
Under the company’s ‘Caring Hands’ initiative, it has been an annual affair for BKP and its team members to reach out to deserving homes and spread cheer to the less fortunate. This year, the team decided on a “Back-to-School” theme with the objective of getting the children ready for their new academic year in January 2016.
The children from Rumah Charis were brought to a hypermarket where each of them was sponsored 2 sets of uniforms and a pair of shoes. A team of BKPers was there to assist the children in getting the right sizes. While some excited kids were seen trying on their new school uniforms, some wished their school holidays would never end. In addition to the shopping spree, BKPers also spent quality time with the children having brunch at Burger King.
“It requires a lot of patience to bring the kids for outing like this as they are very energetic. I am grateful for the quality time spent with the BKP team and I can see that the children were very happy. It is very thoughtful of BKP to sponsor what the children needed for the next academic year,” said Madam Koh, the coordinator of Rumah Charis.
“I am very happy that I have new uniforms and school shoes. Next year, I will be in Standard One and I am looking forward to showing my friends my new uniform and shoes,” said the seven year old boy, Ming Hao.
“In line with the company’s core purpose, we hope our efforts are able to enrich the lives of the children and at the same time engage our team members to reach out to those in need. We believe the personal touch by our team members will help spark the children’s day and make them look forward to their new academic year,” said BKP’s Group Managing Director, NK Tong.
NK added that experience like this was important for all involved. "I am happy that the children and the team got along so well. It is also personally gratifying for me to see how the children have grown, as we have been helping Rumah Charis over the years."
