Eighteen children from Rumah Charis were all smiling as they enjoyed the popcorn while watching the latest film from Pixar, “UP”, on the big cinema screen during their 1-week school break last August. The movie outing was part of BKP’s community initiative to spread cheer and happiness to charity homes.

Shirwin Chua, 15 was among the children from Rumah Charis who were thrilled by the adventurous movie. “We were so happy when we were informed that a company will be taking all of us for a movie this school holiday. I really looked forward to this outing especially when I know that we are going to watch the “UP” movie in GSC One Utama Shopping Mall,” shared Shirwin.

BKP’s Group Managing Director, NK Tong said, “The movie outing is a reflection of one of our core values of Caring. It is important to bring joy to these underprivileged children and what better than bringing them to watch a movie during the school holidays.”

”The movie “UP” was selected for the children as it conveys the message of dreaming big, believing in one’s own self and having the courage and confidence to face uncertainties in the future. We hope the children find this inspiring movie “UP”-lifting and fulfilling,” NK added.

Suzanne Lee, the caretaker of Rumah Charis, expressed her gratitude to BKP and its staff for organising this wonderful outing because such an opportunity to catch a movie in the cinema is a rare treat for these children.

The outing ended with a lunch treat at McDonalds where the children were further entertained with a fun pop quiz session about the movie. It was a sight to remember when all the children mimicked the faces of the two main characters from the movie, Carl and Russell, as part of the game.
