BKP made history by becoming the first and only property development company to win the prestigious Malaysian Business Ethics Excellence Award twice in a row.

BKP, who received the biennial award from Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad, won in the Large Companies Category in 2006 and repeated the feat in 2008. The category is defined as having annual sales turnover of more than RM25 million or more than 150 employees.

In receiving the award, BKP’s Group Managing Director,NK Tong expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs for their continuous effort to push the frontiers of better business ethics in the private and public sectors.

For BKP, NK said the award represents the company’s philosophy of adhering to ethical business conduct in all spheres of its business. “It’s a fitting reward of the staff’s diligence in executing the company’s business practices based on four core values Quality, Innovation, Caring and Integrity.”

“It has kept us on our toes and spurred us to constantly drum up innovative initiatives and meeting industrial quality standards to deliver satisfactory service and enhance the value of the customer’s property,” he said.
    
The 186-page award submission is displayed at the reception area of BKP Gallery. It details the business practices of BKP since its inception in 2000. Seventeen companies comprising large local and multinational companies such as AEON, Citibank, Guinness Anchor, Halliburton Manufacturing, Carrefour and L’Oreal Malaysia took part in the Large Companies Category.

The winners were selected by a panel of experts from the Business Ethics Institute of Malaysia (BEIM) and academics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UiTM).
