‘Lou Sang’ Cheer with Elderly

Say Cheese! BKP team members and all elders in JoyHaven Home are happy with this Chinese New Year visit.

In the spirit of Chinese New Year, 17 elders from JoyHaven Home experienced a cheerful luncheon when Bukit Kiara Properties (BKP) brought the elders out for a feast of ‘Lou Sang’. This charity event was aimed at promoting the value of Caring, which is one of the company’s core values.

The visit was organised by BKP’s Marketing, Property Services and Finance departments as part of their annual affairs and initiatives to reach out to needy homes and to give back to the community. Seventeen elders, with ages ranging from 62 to 86 years old, enjoyed a full New Year spread as angpow and goodie bag were presented to them. In addition, BKP has donated 11 hampers, a wide range of groceries items and cash donation to the home.

“Every festive season, our office would receive many hampers and gifts from our suppliers. In accordance to our code of ethics and core value of integrity, our team members would declare these gifts to the management. The declared items will then be donated to charity homes. By organising such event, we hope to spread a little cheer to the elderly and let them know there are people who care for their well-being,” said BKP’s Senior General Manager for Marketing & Sales, Alex Chua.

During the visit, JoyHaven Home came alive with elders’ laughter when BKP team members brought them out to a Chinese Restaurant at Petaling Jaya SS2 for New Year ‘Lou Sang’ luncheon. The lunch started with tossing of Salmon Yee Sang which represents prosperity, abundance and good wishes for the New Year.  Other dishes enjoyed over the luncheon includes Bamboo Pith with Seafood Potage, Claypot Tofu, Steamed “Red Tail” Fish, Eight Treasure Chicken, Mushroom Vegetarian Platter and ended with a sweet dessert combination.

“Chinese New Year has always been a quiet period for the home, we really appreciate the kindness when we were informed that BKP would bring our elders out for a lunch and keep them accompany for the day,” mentioned JoyHaven Home caretaker, Major Alice.

“I am happy to have so many people celebrating Chinese New Year with us today. It has been some time since we last have such a sumptuous meal!” said Madam Be Gek Eng, one of the elders from JoyHaven Home.
