Personal safety isn't expensive, it's priceless. More than 150 ladies homeowners and customers took the opportunity to attend a series of safety awareness trainings organised by Bukit Kiara Properties (BKP). Held in BKP Gallery located in Mont‟Kiara, the trainings were organised with the objectives of increasing the participants‟ awareness on personal protection and allowing them to take charge of their own safety.

It was the second time that BKP has organised safety training for ladies as part of its Caring Hands initiative to create a better community. The four training sessions held last weekend saw an experienced trainer, Michael SW Chong shared valuable tips on personal safety & protection, road safety measures and self-defense techniques with the participants.

Michael has more than 18 years of experience in personal protection, road and home safety. He shared that by staying alert and always observing our surroundings, we can reduce the possibilities of being a crime target. "The fact that we are paying attention to our environment is one of the most effective preventive methods to take charge of our own safety," said Michael.

"This is the second time that I have attended the safety training organised by BKP. The training is very useful and I have learnt that by staying alert to our surroundings at all the times, it will help in ensuring our safety," said Abirami Pasupathy, a homeowner who attended the training with her mother.

During the training, Michael also highlighted some common bad practices and negligence, such as talking on the phone while walking or texting messages while driving. All these bad practices may lead us to danger. He further shared many real life cases to increase the participants‟ awareness on personal safety as well as preventive methods to avoid dangerous situations.

"We have earlier organised this training for our team members and felt that it would also benefit our lady homeowners and customers. We hope they can learn some useful safety techniques and share these skills with their loved ones. It is important for us to be equipped with safety knowledge in order to be more street-wise," said BKP‟s Group Managing Director, NK Tong.

"I enjoyed the talk and the practical demonstration very much! I am glad to be invited to such a beneficial training. Many people especially the victims of crime would understand the importance of this training and I hope BKP can organise this kind of training more often," said YY Cheong.
