BKP transformed room into computer lab for children’s home

BKP transforms the bedroom into a colourful computer lab.

Children at Precious Home were all cheered up when Bukit Kiara Properties (BKP) donated seven computers for the 17 children and built the first computer lab for the home since it was established 19 years ago. The lab offered kids a joyful learning environment as all computers were lovingly decorated with different themes.

The computer lab project is part of BKP’s Caring Hands initiative to contribute back to the community. Since the project was identified one month ago, BKP team members from different departments contributed their expertise and ideas to transform one of the rooms in Precious Children Home into a computer lab.

“Our dream for a long awaited computer lab has finally been realised. We appreciate BKP’s contribution and its team members’ effort. The children are excited and looking forward to use the computers. It is amazing to see how the room was transformed into an impressive computer lab,” said Ms Evelyn Robert, the caretaker of Precious Home.

To inculcate the caring spirit within the company, every department was encouraged to take charge of different tasks in transforming the room. The tasks included room renovation, installation of computers, interiors design and cleaning. BKP team members also hand painted the room’s wall with garden setting, and decorated each computer with different themes including Angry Bird, Robot, Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty, F1 Racing, Smurf and Transformers.

“I love the ‘robot computer’ most amongst all the computers. It is very cute and I would like to use it to do my homework,” said Marcus, a 10-year old boy whose ambition is to become a F1 racer.

“In line with the company’s core purpose, we hope our efforts are able to enrich the lives of the children and at the same time engage our team members to reach out to those in need. For Precious Home, we hope the personal touch to the computer lab by our team members will help to spark the children’s creativity and provide a fun-filled computer learning experience to them,” said BKP’s Group Managing Director, NK Tong.

BKP contributed close to RM5,000 to purchase items such as computer chairs, wall cabinets, cleaning and renovation tools. The team members are planning to conduct classes to teach the children basic computer knowledge and software.

“We are glad that our business associates took part in this charity event after they heard of the initiative from our team members. They sponsored some of the items and extended their skilled workers to help us in creating a comfortable computer lab for the children. We thank them for their generosity and support,” added NK.

BKP’s business associates who contributed to the computer lab initiative included WI Design & Renovation Sdn Bhd and Tunas Alaf Sdn Bhd. To offer assistance and contribution to Precious Children Home, please contact Ms Evelyn at 016-361 4733.
